First I should start out by saying that I suspect a conspiracy in the Best Blogger Poll. I overheard Catherine and Luke discussing the length of time left on the poll a few days ago. I really didn't think anything of it, because I had a fairly considerable lead. Then I went online today to check, and I noticed the poll was closed and I got smoked by Luke. I suspect a little "voter fraud" going on here....not naming any names....but I suspect my FBIL (Future Brother In Law) and my BFF might have stuffed the ballot box right before closing.
ANYWAY....
So the RHD office got an exciting development this week, in the way of office furniture. RHD is on the verge of getting a very big award next week (for confidentiality purposes we can't reveal it til after the event....so stay tuned). So, in order to celebrate this, Catherine and I decided that it was time to upgrade our office furnishings. Our prior office furniture included desks from Office Depot...the $59.99 kind. They were nice and served a purpose but we were wanting something a little better. A few months ago we began searching and planning, and decided to get some new desks which were on sale at Pottery Barn.
So, this Wednesday was the BIG DAY when the new office furniture was being delivered. We were also excited because we are also expanding our office and taking in another room in our building, so we now occupy the entire 2nd level of our buildling. So in order to make room for our new furniture and our new office, we were helping Mr. Johse (building owner/CPA) move all the old archived tax documents out of the new room upstairs. Now this room has been pretty INACTIVE for a while, because it's sole purpose was just to store people's old tax documents because of something to do with having to have files on hand for X number of years past or something like that.
So, we started moving the boxes out, with the help of assistants Matt Karish (V8 Showbarn Manager), Austin Hobbs (brother of Jessica) and their trusty dolly. After moving a few rows of boxes, we discovered that this room had become "home sweet home" to a little visitor...A MOUSE!!!!
As we began demolishing the little mouse (aka "Feivel's") home, he began scurrying into the hallway then into one of the offices. This created two reactions. I jumped on the wheels of the dolly and started screaming. This was fairly mild compared to the sheer terror reaction of Catherine Williams, my darling sister. She proceeded to jump on the desk chair and shriek in a voice that resembled a combination of Kent Jaecke's ringman voice and something you would see in the "Saw" movies.
At this point, Feivel is still running at a fairly fast pace and moves into mine and Catherine's office. Liz and Jessica join in on the screaming and both jump into a single desk chair together, huddled as if they were facing Godzilla and not a 1 pound tiny Feivel.
Now if you are following me, you'll see that all of us ladies in the office are now screaming hysterically...all except our RHD newcomer, Christa Guidry. Well, OF COURSE, Miss AI-Certified-Technician/Deer Hunter/Country Girl is not scared one bit. In fact, she has sided with Feival and is on his rescue mission. She takes Matt's baseball cap and runs after him trying to catch him and return him outside to a safe home.
RIP Feival, but thanks for letting us have your old home :)
